Our Brighton community has partnered with John Chabot (NHL bio below) on a project to help supply much needed hockey equipment for children in the communities of Kitigan Zibi, Rapid Lake and Lac Simon.
The equipment we gather and send will generate opportunities to provide education and fitness programs through skating and hockey that benefit the youth in these communities that might otherwise miss out.
If you have any skates, hockey sticks, and equipment that you no longer need please consider donating them to this project. There will be a trailer in the driveway at 1 Loyalist Drive for drop offs starting Saturday December 19th.
John Chabot: Drafted 40th overall in 1980 by the Montreal Canadiens. Teams: Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings throughout his career from 1982–2001. He is Algonquin from Kitigan Zibi, and is active in visiting reserves to speak and run hockey skills camps mentoring kids through sport.
